GOOSEBERRIES
The SiS Preview by Dany Sloan

Since we opened shop in Los Angeles last summer, we haven't done much to focus on the sounds of our new surroundings. This is all very puzzling because we've gone on record numerous times in the past about how LA has one of the best local scenes in the country right now, and although it doesn't quite rival Leeds, the City of Angels has more than its fair share of exciting new bands.

Local photographer Sterling Andrews has been documenting the scene since the late '90s, specifically the talent coming from the city's East side. While good music is good music to us, no matter which neighborhood it comes from, Andrews focus her trained eye on the bands that call the sweltering, hipster-infested 'hoods of Silverlake and Echo Park home, plus some honorary residents.

Stranded in Stereo faves Rademacher (technically from Fresno) and Silversun Pickups will be documented, as well as Great Northern, Rogue Wave, Death to Anders, Le Switch, the Happy Hollows, the Henry Clay People, and others. A
project like this is not simply important for the press that it provides the bands, but it's worthwhile in stringing together those individuals that are involved in an artistically viable scene for years to come.

Eenie Meenie Records will be releasing the Gooseberries project, which is
the fruit of all of this labor. It will be available in a limited edition 12" gatefold with a dozen individual portraits, as well as a DVD documenting the painting process, the photoshoots, and artist interviews. There will only be 500 available.
