ARTHUR
The SiS Interview by Dany Sloan

I discovered Fleet-based band Arthur in a roundabout way. While nosing around on Elle Milano's message board, I saw that Adam Crisp's new project, Entrepreneurs, had remixed a track from Hannah Shark who also plays in Arthur. The five-piece is has a debut EP, Cinderella Story, which firmly places the band in a quickly-growing crowd of quirky/dark pop bands coming from the south of England. While tunes like "Comatose" may be raw, they signal this band isn't just screwing around -- they have ideas that show excellent potential.

Our own Dany Sloan recently sent over some questions for the band to answer via e-mail, wherein they discuss their plans for 2009 and how all they really want is to make money or so it seems.

SIS: When did you guys first get together and decide to make a band?

ART: The date was 14th May 2005 and we were bored with school and unexcited about the thought of college. We loved Nirvana and we thought they were cool. One thing led to another and here we are....

SIS: What was your initial vision for the band, and how has that changed?

ART: It's never changed really, we've always been sluts out for money at any cost and we love rocking out.

SIS: In what ways have fairy tales influenced the band's songwriting?

ART: We're stuck in our own little world, particularly Hannah who prefers fairytales to the real world.

SIS: What fairy tale that has influenced your music stands out the most?

ART: It's more the idea of fairytales in general rather than one in particular. Everything can be referenced to a fairytales.

SIS: Where are most of the songs written, and under what circumstances do you write them?

ART: In the bathtub, or any other relaxing situation.

SIS: What has been the best show you've played?

ART: Funnily enough it was just the other day at the borderline in London; we sold loads of CDs. Like I said, money hungry sluts.

SIS: What are your plans for 2009?

ART: Get signed already, have good times, and still be blissfully in love with each other.

SIS: If there was an instrument that could add to the band's sound, what instrument would it be?

ART: Three sexy gospel singers, with one of them single so that Steve has a look in…

SIS: If any member of the band was on the front cover of a tabloid, who would it be and why?

ART: It would be our keyboard player Kezzers, for being the famous face of the local night club.

SIS: What specific goals do you have for the band's music in the future?

ART: More money, more songs, more good times.... oh and more people coming to see us play.... that would be lovely.
